I can't get over this people told me thanks but i don't feel accomplishment?

I was on this weird call saying that there was 20 people pinned down in this island and they need of rescue. what they didn't tell me was that there was 2 people that were in critical condition. when we got to the location the guy was in shock . he has a peace of wood stuck in his neck . he wouldn't stop bleeding so i tried everything i could and the guy died .then the 2nd person was bitten by a snake and he died in the hospital . I keep on thinking that if we got there earlier those people would still be alive. I cried and cried all day. i couldn't stop . i need some kind of encouragement.. i have nobody to talk to..
